QCI Vacation Homes is now pleased to offer liveaboard trips on their 40-foot yacht “Cuxhaven”, which allows guests to experience parts of the British Columbia coast that are unreachable otherwise.
Two different types of trips are offered: 7-10 day Inside Passage trips between Vancouver Island, Lower Mainland and Haida Gwaii; and local trips based out of Masset in Haida Gwaii for 1-5 days.
The “Cuxhaven” is a fast trawler, designed and built in 1995 by Independent Shipwrights on Vancouver Island. The majority of these hand-laid fibreglass hulls were built as commercial fishing boats with many currently part of the Tuna fleet off the west coast of BC. Less than a handful of these well-made and seaworthy boats were built as pleasure craft, and QCI Vacation Homes are proud to own one of them.
Live Aboard Accommodations for up to four guests
The “Cuxhaven” sleeps up to four guests comfortably, each with their own bunk in a single forward passenger stateroom. The dining area converts to a double bunk accommodating six however four is the ideal number for maximizing economy and experience. Day trips can handle 7 guests however if interested in fishing, dramatically reduces the “rod time”. The Cuxhaven offers exceptional experiences to fishermen and photographers alike, offering a very comfortable platform to explore the area. The enclosed “head” or washroom, offers a full-size shower and of course hot and cold running water. The main living area is spacious and very bright with lots of windows through which to view the surroundings. It has a well-equipped kitchen as well as a large BBQ with both open and covered decks available depending upon the weather. After a long day, most are happy to enjoy the twilight views and turn in, however, a TV and laptop are available should guests wish to bring DVDs or simply review photographs from the day. Satellite radio and satellite telephone are both available.
Fishing & Wildlife Watching from a comfortable, covered deck
The “Cuxhaven” offers comfortable fishing and wildlife observation where guests can be outside under cover from the elements if required or enjoy the warmth of the sunshine when available. The large upper deck offers an excellent platform to view and photograph the abundant wildlife that the west coast of British Columbia is famous for. The “Cuxhaven” boasts all the latest navigation and fishing aids and offers top-of-the-line fishing equipment. The Cuxhaven is a good fishing platform itself but for an additional charge, an 18-foot Lifetimer or a 24-foot “Sea West”, both specifically designed for west coast fishing can be towed along for the very serious sports fisherman. All fishing supplies are included except for fishing licenses which guests must purchase prior to the trip. For more information about our boats please click here.
Meal packages can be included and choices arranged in advance, but it is highly recommended that advantage be taken of the different “catches of the day” that are available which includes salmon, halibut, rockfish, cod, prawns and Dungeness Crab. Snacks and alcohol are not provided unless prior arrangements have been made.
It must be noted that in accordance with Provincial laws, alcohol can only be consumed when boats are tied up alongside or at anchor.
